Primary Care of Barrington
Dr. Greg Sadovnikoff

Welcome to the website of Primary Care of Barrington and Dr. Greg Sadovnikoff. This is a family medicine practice providing for adults and children of all ages, with an emphasis on continuity of care, whether for individuals or entire extended families.

The practice is built on the Ideal Medical Practice model, wherein the doctor works solo, with little or no staff, relying on an electronic medical record, and maintaining a level of simplicity that permits very low operational overhead. This model has many advantages:

Fewer patients are seen than in a conventional office practice.
            Visits are longer, and unrushed.
Time is allotted so that any and all issues may be addressed.
Waiting room time is drastically reduced, usually eliminated.
Housecalls for newborns and persons who are home-bound become possible.

There are no intermediaries.
All communication is direct, patient-to-physician, and vice versa.
After hours communication does not involve an answering or paging service.
Except for vacations, on-call coverage is by the practicing physician.

Technology is utilized to best advantage.
The use of paper is minimized.
            Prescriptions are handled electronically.
Test results can be conveyed promptly by email for those who have email.
Online scheduling will be used for those who are comfortable with this.

There are advantages for the physician, as well. This model allows the provider to know his or her patients in the manner of the village doctor. The loss of identity that is inevitable with a huge patient panel (as in a traditional practice) does not occur. The frustrations of practicing in a complicated healthcare system are minimized, returning the doctor to the love and the art of medicine.
